ASR Nederland First‑Half 2026 Results
ASR Nederland, the Utrecht‑based Dutch insurer, announced a sharp rise in its first‑half 2026 financial performance. The group generated an operating profit of €901 million for the six months ended 30 June, representing a 9.8% increase over the €821 million recorded a year earlier. Net profit climbed to €809 million, more than fivefold the €126 million posted in the comparable period, a boost attributed to positive real‑estate revaluations and favourable movements in interest rates.
The Life segment, which remains the largest contributor, delivered an operating result of €689 million, up 11.6% year‑on‑year. The Non‑life segment posted an operating result of €268 million, a 4.6% increase, while fee‑based businesses surged 32.1%, a performance uplift linked to the acquisition of HumanTotalCare.
For the Non‑life book, the combined ratio—a key profitability metric that excludes health insurance—stood at 91.6%, comfortably within the group’s target range of 92‑94% and marginally above the 91.4% recorded in the prior year. The operating return on equity improved to 15.4% from 14.2%, surpassing the company’s internal target of 12%.
Capital adequacy also strengthened. The Solvency II ratio rose to 222% from 218% at the end of December, reflecting organic capital generation that outweighed dividend payments and the completion of a €175 million share‑buyback programme. Organic capital creation increased 7.3% to €773 million.
Shareholders will receive an interim dividend of €1.39 per share, a 9.4% increase over the previous interim payout.
