Basilea Raises 2026 Profit Outlook on Cresemba Sales Growth
Swiss biopharma company Basilea reported that first‑half (H1) 2026 revenue increased 14% year‑over‑year to CHF 119 million, primarily due to strong demand for its antifungal product Cresemba. Operating profit for the same period rose 32% to CHF 31.60 million, while net profit surged 77% to CHF 27.90 million. The company recorded first‑half operating expenses of CHF 87.40 million and a pretax profit of CHF 32.10 million. Basic earnings per share were CHF 2.26 and diluted earnings per share were CHF 2.13.
Based on this performance, Basilea upgraded its full‑year 2026 guidance. It now expects operating profit to grow by approximately 40%, compared with the earlier forecast of around 20% growth. Total revenue growth outlook was also lifted to roughly 15% for the year, up from the prior estimate of about 10%.
The firm projects that revenue attributable to Cresemba and its pipeline candidate Zevtera will reach approximately CHF 210 million in 2026. Increased royalty income from Cresemba, together with higher revenues from contracts with BARDA and CARB‑X, supported both late‑stage and early‑stage research and development programs. Additionally, a lower cost of products sold contributed to the improved profitability.
