Industry Overview

Indian cinema industry showed strong performance in H1 2026 with six films crossing ₹200 crore mark versus four in H1 2025. Jan-Jun 2026 box office collections reached ₹6,398 crore, the highest first-half total since pandemic, exceeding 2025 by nearly ₹650 crore. Footfalls rose 5% YoY to 37.8 crore in H1 2026, reversing three years of decline. Hindi and Marathi films were primary drivers of footfall growth. Dhurandhar: The Revenge contributed 20% of H1 2026 box office collections, while top 15 films accounted for 58% of revenues, up from 49% in 2025.

Average Ticket Price (ATP): ₹236 (+2% YoY)

Spend Per Head (SPH): ₹108 (0% YoY)

ATP + SPH: ₹345 (+1% YoY)

Reported EBITDA has grown at a CAGR of 18% over the period.

Expansion Plans

The company is emerging from a regional player to a national cinema exhibitor with planned expansion of 29 screens across multiple locations:

  • Gurugram, Haryana: 5 screens (Under Fit-outs)
  • Bangalore, Karnataka: 4 screens
  • Hyderabad, Telangana: 4 screens
  • Nagole, Telangana: 4 screens
  • Agra, Uttar Pradesh: 3 screens
  • Noida, Uttar Pradesh: 3 screens
  • Chennai, Tamil Nadu: 6 screens

All committed screen fit-outs are targeted for completion within FY27, though commercial openings remain subject to necessary licenses and approvals.

Management Update

Mr. Rajeev Sharma has been appointed as Joint CEO of Cineline India Limited. He brings over 30 years of experience across cinema exhibition, entertainment, media, consumer products, technology, wellness, lifestyle, and business consulting sectors. Previously, he served as Chief Executive Officer at NY Cinemas (multiplex chain promoted by actor Ajay Devgn) and was elevated to Group CEO at ADF.
