Financial Performance

Coles Group announced that underlying net profit for the fiscal year ended June rose to A$1.26 billion, representing a 14% increase from A$1.10 billion in the prior year. Group EBIT, excluding significant items, climbed 9.9% to A$2.322 billion. Total sales revenue expanded 2.8% to A$45.58 billion.

Segment Highlights

The supermarket division remained the primary growth driver, with sales up 3.7% to A$41.47 billion and the EBIT margin improving by 43 basis points to 5.7%. E‑commerce sales surged 26.4% year‑on‑year, reaching A$5.6 billion. Conversely, the liquor segment experienced a 3.3% decline in sales and a 47.8% drop in EBIT, which fell to A$59 million.

Share Price Reaction

Following the release, Coles shares closed 4.6% higher at A$23.69, the highest level since 14 August 2026.

Outlook and Investment Plans

For FY27, the company indicated that sales growth observed in the first eight weeks was broadly consistent with the fourth quarter, and e‑commerce penetration had risen to 15.7%. Coles also disclosed a planned investment of approximately A$190 million to establish a new capability centre, with an objective of delivering more than A$100 million of annualised benefits by FY29.
