Vienna Airport Raises 2026 Guidance on Malta and Kosice Growth
Flughafen Wien AG reported that first‑half revenue increased by 0.9% to €529.30 million, while group net profit rose 7.0% over the same period. The profit uplift was attributed to strong passenger growth at its Malta and Kosice airports, which offset a decline in traffic at the Vienna hub caused by reduced low‑cost carrier capacity and the Middle East conflict.
EBIT for the first half stood at €159.40 million and EBITDA at €227.10 million, reflecting the impact of a rigorous cost‑savings programme and special effects.
The company upgraded its full‑year 2026 outlook, now expecting group revenue of approximately €1.08 billion, higher than its previous forecast. It also projects total passenger volume for 2026 at about 42.5 million, with Vienna Airport handling roughly 30.5 million passengers.
For the full year, Flughafen Wien anticipates group net profit of around €220 million before non‑controlling interests.
Key Drivers
- Passenger growth at Malta and Kosice airports compensated for lower Vienna traffic.
- Cost‑discipline measures and special effects contributed to earnings improvement.
Risks Noted
- Continued reduced capacity from low‑cost carriers and geopolitical tensions in the Middle East could pressure Vienna’s passenger numbers.
