LG Display Q2 2026 Operating Loss
LG Display announced an operating loss of 108 billion South Korean won for the second quarter of 2026. The loss was attributed to weakened demand for mobile panels and restructuring costs, which offset stronger television demand generated by sporting events.
Panel area shipments increased 12 % compared with the first quarter of 2026, yet the average selling price (ASP) declined 13 % over the same period. OLED products represented 57 % of total sales in Q2 2026, down from 60 % in Q1 2026, while mobile and other products accounted for 32 % of the sales mix, a reduction of five percentage points quarter‑over‑quarter.
Looking ahead to the third quarter of 2026, LG Display expects panel area shipments to grow by a mid‑single‑digit percentage relative to Q2, driven by seasonal demand patterns, early orders, and a shift in product mix. The company also projects that ASP will rise by a high‑teens percentage from the previous quarter, supported by peak‑season demand for mobile OLED panels. To improve margins, LG Display plans to curtail production of low‑margin items and pursue cost‑optimization measures amid ongoing uncertainty in IT component pricing.
Citi analysts commented that the company’s OLED growth is likely to decelerate because of soft mobile and IT demand, heightened competition from Chinese manufacturers, rising input costs, and limited exposure to next‑generation foldable panel markets.
