Medline Q2 Results Impacted by Tracy Facility Fire

Medline reported a 58.3% year‑over‑year decline in second‑quarter net income, driven primarily by losses from a fire that completely destroyed its 1‑million‑square‑foot distribution center in Tracy, California last month. The fire‑related impairment caused net income to fall sharply, while the company still delivered adjusted diluted earnings per share of $0.50, surpassing analysts’ consensus estimate of $0.32; on a reported basis earnings per share were $0.07.

Second‑quarter net sales increased 11.6% year‑over‑year to $7.7 billion, beating the consensus forecast of $7.51 billion, reflecting expansion among existing customers and new customer signings. Adjusted EBITDA rose 13.4% to $1.1 billion, aided by tariff refund benefits. Despite the top‑line strength, Medline lowered its full‑year adjusted EBITDA guidance to a range of $3.3 billion to $3.4 billion, down from the prior $3.5 billion to $3.6 billion. The company raised its 2026 organic sales growth outlook to 9.0%‑10.0% from the earlier 8.5%‑9.5% range; the outlook incorporates IEEPA tariff repayments, while the EBITDA guidance excludes IEEPA tariff refunds.

Shares fell more than 13% in pre‑market trading following the release. CEO Jim Boyle said the firm “delivered robust top‑line growth… secured over 65% of our annual goal in total new customer signings during the first half of 2026, and moved swiftly to minimize disruption from the fire… demonstrating an unwavering commitment to our customers.”
