Financial Performance

The Orissa Minerals Development Company Limited (OMDC) reported significantly improved financial results for FY 2025-26, reducing its net loss to ₹2.90 crore from ₹40.43 crore in the previous year. Revenue from operations stood at ₹94.09 crore from mining activities, with total income reaching ₹100.00 crore including interest income. Despite these improvements, the company maintains negative net worth of ₹54.63 crore as of March 31, 2026.

Operational Update

Mining operations resumed at the Bagiaburu iron ore mine in December 2023, with dispatch of 2,03,895.720 MT during FY26. The company received Environment Clearance for its Belkundi mine on August 12, 2026, while the Bhadrasahi mine continues to await statutory clearances. However, BPMEL mines remain closed following Supreme Court's rejection of lease renewals in May 2024, with review petitions subsequently rejected in May 2025.

Corporate Governance & AGM

The company submitted its 108th AGM notice and annual report pursuant to SEBI Regulation 34, scheduling the meeting for November 30, 2026. Five new directors were appointed to the board, including MNVS Prabhakar as Chairman and GVN Prasad as Managing Director (Additional Charge), all requiring ratification at the upcoming AGM.

Legal & Contingent Liabilities

OMDC faces substantial legal challenges with contingent liabilities totaling ₹781,986 lakh, including arbitration claims from Eastern India Minerals Ltd (₹378,227 lakh), Visa Steel Ltd (₹19,021 lakh), and stamp duty demands of ₹148,951.55 lakh. The company provided an additional ₹863.77 lakh for the Jai Balaji Industries Ltd arbitration award, bringing total provision to ₹1,740.99 lakh.

Financial Position & Audit Matters

The company's financial statements reflect prior period error correction of ₹91.32 lakh for mining stripping costs incorrectly capitalized. Statutory auditors provided an unqualified opinion with emphasis on matter, while CAG identified issues including non-recognition of compensatory afforestation liability (₹244.77 lakh) and inadequate impairment provisions. The company availed ₹2.40 crore inter-corporate loan from RINL out of sanctioned ₹284.55 crore for mine operationalization.

Going Concern & Outlook

Despite accumulated losses and negative equity, financial statements are prepared on a going concern basis based on resumed mining operations at Bagiaburu and ongoing efforts to renew other mining leases. No dividend was recommended for FY26 due to accumulated losses, and no CSR allocation was made as average net profits for last three years remained negative.
