Quanex Building Products Q3 2026 Results

Quanex Building Products Corporation (NYSE: NX) posted third‑quarter 2026 financial results that exceeded analyst expectations. Adjusted earnings per share were $0.79, beating the consensus estimate of $0.65. Revenue reached $501.8 million, surpassing the $498.4 million forecast and representing a 1.3 % increase from $495.3 million in the same quarter of 2025.

Gross margin expanded to 28.2 % from 27.9 % year‑over‑year, reflecting management’s progress in addressing the price‑versus‑cost imbalance that had pressured margins in Q2 2026. The Hardware Solutions segment and the consolidated business both recorded margin expansion, although the Hardware Solutions segment’s net sales declined 2.7 % due to lower volumes and reimbursements related to IEEPA tariffs. The Extruded Solutions segment posted net‑sales growth of 2.8 %, while the Custom Solutions segment grew 8.5 % on the back of higher volume and improved pricing.

Shares rose 1.4 % in after‑hours trading on Thursday following the release. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer George Wilson said, “Volumes continued to track normal seasonality patterns during the third quarter of 2026, and we made meaningful progress addressing the price versus cost imbalance that impacted our margins in the second quarter of 2026.”

During the quarter the company repaid $42.25 million of debt and repurchased 99,786 shares of common stock for approximately $1.7 million at an average price of $17.10 per share. As of July 31 2026 total debt stood at $672.2 million, yielding a leverage ratio of 2.8 × Net Debt to LTM Adjusted EBITDA. Liquidity increased 10.5 % to $363.1 million, comprising $62.1 million cash on hand and available capacity under its senior secured revolving credit facility.
