Renesas Electronics Corp – Q3 2026 Results
Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723) announced a sharp rise in third‑quarter profit, with IFRS profit attributable increasing to ¥372.2 billion for the July‑September period, up from ¥106.3 billion a year earlier. The headline figure incorporates a ¥450.3 billion gain arising from the transfer of the Timing business, which was completed in July.
On a non‑GAAP basis that excludes the one‑off timing‑sale gain, profit attributable rose to ¥125 billion, compared with ¥88.2 billion in the prior year. Operating profit on the same basis climbed 46% to ¥150.5 billion, reflecting improved underlying profitability.
Revenue expanded 30% year‑on‑year to ¥435.9 billion under IFRS, while non‑GAAP revenue reached ¥435.2 billion, a 30.2% increase. This performance exceeded the midpoint of Renesas’s own quarterly forecast by 1.2%. Gross margin on a non‑GAAP basis improved to 59.4% from 57.6%, helped by yen depreciation, a more favourable product mix and lower manufacturing costs.
The strongest growth driver was the Industrial, Infrastructure and IoT segment, where non‑GAAP revenue surged 46.4% to ¥243.8 billion. Automotive semiconductor revenue also rose 19.3% to ¥189.5 billion, supported by higher demand and a rebound from inventory adjustments in the distribution channel observed in the previous year. Renesas attributed the overall increase to rising data‑centre demand and a recovery in industrial and IoT markets.
Looking ahead, Renesas forecasts fourth‑quarter non‑GAAP revenue of ¥454 billion, with a variance of ±¥7.5 billion around the midpoint. The company expects a 58% gross margin and a 32% operating margin for Q4. For the full fiscal year, Renesas projects non‑GAAP revenue in the range of ¥1.66 trillion to ¥1.67 trillion.
