The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has announced that the 4th Indo-German Environmental Forum will be held in New Delhi on September 1, 2026. The forum, themed 'Together For More Resilience', will be co-chaired by Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Shri Bhupender Yadav and German Minister for Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety H.E. Carsten Schneider.
This bilateral forum represents the highest-level environmental policy dialogue between India and Germany and has been held since 2008. The event is jointly organized by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) of India and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMUKN) of Germany, in association with the Asia-Pacific Committee of German Business (APA) and Indian industry associations.
The forum will focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation and facilitating exchanges on key environmental and climate policy issues. Thematic sessions will address challenges, solutions, and opportunities in four specific areas: Low-Carbon Industries; Biodiversity in Wetlands, Mountains and Forests; Resource Efficiency & Circular Economy as a Business Model; and Sustainable Finance, Green Skills and Investment Mobilization.
The event will serve as a platform for bilateral exchanges among policymakers, private-sector representatives, think tanks, and other key stakeholders. Participants will include representatives from ministries, businesses, expert groups, and non-governmental organizations from both countries.
Ahead of the main forum, three Joint Working Groups on Climate Change, Biodiversity and Circular Economy met earlier this year to discuss progress made and areas of mutual interest. The forum gains significance in the context of growing economic and industrial linkages between India and Germany and the potential for deeper cooperation in sustainable technologies and the green economy.
