Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah has approved the advance release of ₹2,117.85 crore from the Central share of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) to seven states affected by floods during the ongoing southwest monsoon of 2026. The funds are intended to support relief, rescue, and rehabilitation measures in the flood-affected states.

The approval includes differentiated allocations based on each state's circumstances and previous disbursements. Arunachal Pradesh receives ₹44.55 crore as advance release of the first instalment of the Central share of SDRF for financial year 2026-27. Assam has been sanctioned ₹379.35 crore as advance release of the first instalment, while Gujarat receives ₹500 crore as advance release of the first instalment. Himachal Pradesh, which had already received the first instalment of SDRF for 2026-27, receives ₹193.95 crore as advance release of the second instalment. Maharashtra is approved for ₹500 crore as advance release of the first instalment. Odisha, which had already received the first instalment, receives ₹500 crore as advance release of the second instalment.

The Government of India has been continuously monitoring the flood situation since the onset of the monsoon in coordination with state governments. The Central Government has extended all possible assistance including pre-deployment of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and logistical support from the Ministry of Defence where required. Inter-Ministerial Central Teams (IMCTs) have already been deputed to Arunachal Pradesh and Assam to assess damages, with two IMCT visits undertaken in Assam due to the severity of the flood situation. An IMCT is also being constituted for Nagaland upon the state government's request.

The advance releases were approved by relaxing documentary requirements under applicable guidelines to ensure timely availability of funds for relief operations. Out of the seven affected states, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Nagaland had already received the first instalment of SDRF for the financial year 2026-27 prior to this announcement.
