Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah addressed via video conference a ceremony for distribution of assistive devices to Divyangjans (persons with disabilities), including those affected by Naxal violence, under the ongoing 'Seva Sankalp Abhiyan'. The event marks the completion of 25 years of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's public service, first as Chief Minister and subsequently as Prime Minister.

The program was held in Jagdalpur from 5 to 7 October 2026, benefiting more than 3,600 persons with disabilities through the distribution of prosthetic devices. More than 1,570 beneficiaries were from Bastar alone, reflecting the extensive suffering in the region due to five decades of Naxalism. Shah characterized the use of IEDs to inflict disabilities on innocent civilians for political purposes as "the gravest violation of human rights."

Shah declared that the Modi government had successfully eliminated Naxalism from the entire country before 31 March 2026. However, he emphasized that eliminating Naxalism alone was insufficient, and the government must now heal the wounds inflicted by this suffering and ensure victims can live with dignity and respect. The Government of India stands firmly alongside the Chhattisgarh government in supporting rehabilitation efforts.

Substantial rehabilitation statistics were provided: approximately 8,526 Naxalites have surrendered, with bank accounts opened for 7,328 of them who previously had no accounts. A total of 1,620 people have received reward money, 7,882 have received incentives, 455 have been provided jobs, and 129 have been allotted land. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, 4,014 beneficiaries have received houses, and more than 2,308 tribal people have undergone skill development training. Additionally, 6,763 new ration cards have been issued, 2,808 families have been provided free electricity, and work has begun on 372 new road projects with construction underway on 670 small bridges.

The Chhattisgarh government has implemented several initiatives to transform Bastar, including the Bastar Olympics, Bastar Pandum (reviving tribal art and culture), Niyad Nellanar (expanding basic infrastructure), and the Chief Minister's Samuhik Bus Yojana. Significant progress includes 48,526 people receiving Aadhaar cards and 44 gram panchayats recognized under the 'Ilwad Panchayat Awards'.

A notable infrastructure conversion involves more than 500 security camps established during the conflict, of which over 200 will be converted into 'Shaheed Veer Gundadhur Seva Dera' service centers. Government officials will now work from these former security camps to lay the foundation for a developed Bastar region.
