Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah reviewed indigenous and cutting-edge technologies to strengthen border security at the Zoomagach border outpost in Siliguri, West Bengal. The minister examined a radio-based fence breach identification system that alerts personnel immediately through pre-recorded message broadcasts when the border fence is tampered with. He also observed an infra-red alarm system designed for difficult terrain and riverine areas or open sections between border fences, which provides advance warning to personnel when infrared beams are interrupted. Additionally, Shah reviewed a gate management system prepared to facilitate safe and smooth movement of citizens and farmers across the India-Bangladesh border.

Shah e-inaugurated BSF projects worth ₹47 crore for three specific projects. He also e-inaugurated a ₹30 crore, 4-kilometer long border fencing construction scheme on newly acquired land for two border outposts in West Bengal. The total value of various BSF works inaugurated and foundation-laid amounted to ₹77.06 crore. During the event, Shah visited a watch tower, conducted tree plantation, and interacted with BSF personnel at a sentinel conference. The event was attended by West Bengal's Chief Minister, the Director General of Border Security Force, and other dignitaries.

The Union Home Minister emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, the Indian government is committed to making all the country's borders impenetrable. The Modi government is constructing a quadrangular security grid to make borders completely secure under the smart border concept, with focus on preventing infiltration in border areas. The welfare of security force personnel protecting the country's borders and their families remains the highest priority of the Modi government.
