Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah inaugurated the 9th two-day National Security Strategies Conference-2026 in New Delhi on August 24, 2026. The conference, held in hybrid format, was attended by over 850 participants including Ministers of State for Home Affairs, Union Home Secretary, Deputy NSAs, Heads of CAPFs/CPOs in Delhi, and DGsP of States and UTs, young police officers, and domain experts joining virtually.
Prior to the inauguration, Shah paid homage at the Martyrs' column by laying a wreath in remembrance of Intelligence Bureau personnel who sacrificed their lives safeguarding national security. The first day's discussions focused on critical aspects including response to counter-terrorism challenges, intelligence fusion and operationalization through Multi Agency Centre (MAC), vision document on narcotics control, detection and deportation of illegal migrants, and policy framework to combat cyber-crime and proxy warfare by Pakistan.
Shah emphasized training for implementation of MHA's PRAHAAR scheme for effective tackling of terrorism and radicalization, expediting trials by bringing back fugitives and using trial in absentia provisions, and undertaking comprehensive integrated approach while investigating UAPA cases. He directed AI-based analysis of MAC platform information to create SOPs for countering national security challenges and instructed all agencies to take strict measures against infiltration.
The second day will focus on threat landscape from sub-aerial systems and countermeasures, securing blue economy, information warfare implications on national security, and need for biosecurity framework. The NSSC has been held annually in hybrid format since 2021 following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directions, aiming to find solutions to major national security challenges using grassroots officers' experience with domain experts.
