Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the 'PM Family Care Tracker' pilot project in Gandhinagar, Gujarat on June 28, 2026. The event was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and other dignitaries. During the inauguration, children were administered polio doses and nutrition kits were distributed.
The PM Family Care Tracker represents a significant governance innovation that integrates with birth and death registration data to provide every child with a unique ID. This system is designed to automatically deliver the benefits of all government schemes to beneficiaries in a timely manner. The platform addresses key challenges of beneficiary identification, government outreach, and effective delivery of welfare schemes through an integrated monitoring system that will identify needy individuals and provide them with special attention.
Shah emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has redefined holistic and inclusive development by formulating long-term policies with continuous monitoring and effective implementation. The government has established a new framework for transparent welfare delivery through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), ensuring that funds sent for the poor reach them directly without leakage.
The government highlighted its achievements in providing houses, electricity, tap water, toilets, gas cylinders, 5 kg of free foodgrains, free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh, and access to 90% affordable medicines for crores of poor people across the country. These initiatives were described as resolving generational problems that had persisted since Independence within just 12 years.
The PM Family Care Tracker will also monitor various healthcare initiatives including the expansion of doctor availability, strengthening of health infrastructure, and revitalization of India's traditional healthcare systems through AYUSH. The system represents part of what Shah described as a revolutionary transformation in India's health sector under Prime Minister Modi's leadership.
