Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah attended the commemorative program marking the 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in Kolkata as Chief Guest. The event featured a video message from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and was attended by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and other dignitaries.

Shah announced that a 125-foot-tall statue of Dr. Mookerjee would be constructed in Kolkata, alongside the establishment of the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Institute dedicated to research on India's security. The West Bengal government declared Mookerjee's birth anniversary a public holiday. The Home Minister stated that Prime Minister Modi fulfilled Mookerjee's resolve of "Ek Vidhan, Ek Pradhan, Ek Nishan" by abrogating Article 370, making Jammu and Kashmir an integral part of India.

Several policy implementations and initiatives were highlighted: the Maintenance of Public Order (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has been passed in West Bengal; the Durga Suraksha Squad has been constituted for women's safety; the process of identifying and deporting infiltrators has begun; and a committee under Justice Brijendra Nath has been constituted to investigate corruption cases in West Bengal, with the promise that corrupt individuals will return "every single penny" once the report is submitted.

The West Bengal government has implemented multiple welfare schemes including the Annapurna Scheme, Ujjwala 3.0, free bus travel for women and girl students, the Lakhpati Didi Mission, and free medical treatment up to ₹5 lakh for the poor under Ayushman Bharat. Construction of a cancer hospital in North Bengal has begun, and work of handing over land for fencing to the BSF has been completed. A committee has also been formed for implementation of the Uniform Civil Code.
