PMMSY FFPO Program National Overview
The Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) has approved projects worth ₹544.86 crore for the formation of 2,195 Fish Farmers Producer Organizations (FFPOs) across India during the five-year period from FY 2021-22 to FY 2025-26. This includes 195 new FFPOs and the conversion of 2,000 existing Primary Fisheries Cooperative Societies (PFCSs) into FFPOs. The program is implemented through four central agencies: National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Small Farmers Agri-business Consortium (SFAC), National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED), and National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC). Nationwide, a total of 2,104 FFPOs have been formed to date.
Andhra Pradesh FFPO Implementation
In Andhra Pradesh, 192 FFPOs have been established under PMMSY, consisting of 10 newly formed organizations and 182 existing Primary Fisheries Cooperative Societies converted into FFPOs. The total government support provided amounts to ₹328.20 lakh (₹3.28 crore) for the new FFPOs and ₹963.73 lakh (₹9.64 crore) for the converted PFCSs, making a combined investment of ₹12.92 crore. These organizations collectively involve 39,022 members, with 6,136 members in new FFPOs and 32,886 members in converted PFCSs.
District-Wise Breakdown of Converted Fisheries Cooperatives
The conversion of 182 existing Primary Fisheries Cooperative Societies into FFPOs in Andhra Pradesh shows significant regional distribution. Konaseema District leads with 34 PFCSs converted at a cost of ₹165.82 lakh, benefiting 5,111 members. Srikakulam follows with 19 conversions costing ₹96.97 lakh and 7,233 members. West Godavari has 20 conversions with ₹106.74 lakh investment serving 2,662 members, while Eluru district converted 18 societies at ₹78.90 lakh cost covering 2,770 members. Other notable districts include East Godavari (12 conversions, ₹50.81 lakh, 1,180 members), Kakinada (10 conversions, ₹58.19 lakh, 1,581 members), and Krishna (7 conversions, ₹40.53 lakh, 1,472 members). The support includes management cost releases of ₹753.43 lakh and equity grant releases of ₹210.30 lakh across all districts.
