The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying has approved development of 15 Climate Resilient Coastal Fishermen Villages (CRCFV) in Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) scheme. The total approved cost is ₹30 crore (₹200 lakh per village), with ₹15 crore already released to the state government based on utilization. The scheme is fully funded by the Central Government under its Central Sector component.
Two specific villages in Krishna district - Gullalamoda and Sorlagondhi - have detailed project plans. Gullalamoda receives ₹200.05 lakh for infrastructure including jetty extension (₹144.2 lakh) and economic activities such as seaweed culture farms (₹5 lakh), open sea cage culture (₹30 lakh), GPS handsets (₹4 lakh), life-saving equipment (₹2 lakh), and iceboxes (₹14.85 lakh). These interventions are expected to benefit 1,450 people from jetty extension, 250 from seaweed farms, 100 from life-saving equipment, 160 from iceboxes, and 12 from sea cage culture.
Sorlagondhi receives ₹195.9 lakh for infrastructure including fish drying platform (₹10 lakh), solar drying units (₹20 lakh), multi-purpose fisheries center (₹40 lakh), common fish market (₹60 lakh), and high mast solar lights (₹5 lakh). Economic activities include solar lights (₹4 lakh), seaweed pilot projects (₹5.5 lakh), color GPS handsets (₹4 lakh), life-saving appliances (₹7.5 lakh), and sea cage culture (₹40 lakh). Benefit expectations include 2,250 people from drying platforms, 910 from solar drying units, 1,125 from fisheries center, 1,520 from fish market, 100 from seaweed projects, 100 from life-saving appliances, and 160 from sea cage culture.
The PMMSY scheme has been extended until September 30, 2026. Notably, the Government of Andhra Pradesh has not availed the separate Integrated Modern Coastal Villages component of PMMSY, which operates on a 60:40 cost-sharing basis with states at ₹750 lakh per unit.
