Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the first instalment of 3 lakh houses worth ₹3,600 crore to Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin 2.0 at an event in Burripalem village, Guntur district on October 4, 2026. The allocation was significantly increased from the initial proposal of 76,000 houses following Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu's request to ensure every poor family in the state has a permanent home. Chouhan assured that after completion of these 3 lakh houses, the Centre would sanction another 3 lakh followed by a further 3 lakh, totaling 9 lakh houses needed for the state.

In a landmark development, Chouhan and Naidu laid the foundation stone for India's first pilot housing project using 3D concrete printing technology. The ₹14-crore project comprises 177 houses and is expected to be completed within six months. This technology promises to significantly reduce construction time, costs, and labor requirements while offering greater durability and longer lifespan compared to conventional construction methods.

The Centre has provided special financial assistance of ₹15,000 crore for the development of Amaravati as Andhra Pradesh's permanent capital and is providing 100% grant assistance for the Polavaram irrigation project, described as the state's lifeline. The proposed Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport will further strengthen connectivity and support economic growth.

On agricultural support, farmers in Andhra Pradesh receive ₹20,000 annually through the combination of Centre's PM-KISAN scheme (₹6,000) and state's Annadata Sukhibhava scheme (₹14,000). The state has potential to emerge as India's leading horticulture hub. For women's empowerment, 23 lakh women have already become Lakhpati Didis through self-help groups, with a target to increase this to 60 lakh. The national Saras Mela will be organized in Andhra Pradesh on October 15 for the first time outside Delhi, inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu.

The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Andhra Pradesh Ministers Nadendla Manohar (Civil Supplies), Kolusu Parthasarathy (Housing and Information), Kandula Durgesh (Tourism), BJP state president P.V.N. Madhav, Rajya Sabha MP Bhashyam Ramakrishna, MP Lingamneni Ramesh, MLC Alapati Rajendra Prasad, Housing Corporation Chairman Bathula Tataiah Babu, and senior officials from Central and state governments.
