The Ministry of Ayush has launched the Yoga Park Portal, a digital initiative aimed at transforming existing public parks across India into community wellness hubs dedicated to yoga, meditation, and preventive healthcare. The portal was officially launched by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, during the 25-day countdown event for International Day of Yoga 2026 held at Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh.

The initiative reimagines parks as community wellness anchors rather than merely recreational spaces, encouraging regular yoga practice, meditation, preventive healthcare, and community engagement. The portal enables participation from Panchayati Raj Institutions, Urban Local Bodies, Resident Welfare Associations, non-governmental organisations, corporate entities, and other institutions in developing existing parks into Yoga Parks.

Key infrastructure elements include dedicated yoga platforms, meditation zones, green landscapes, awareness facilities, and open spaces for group sessions designed to accommodate people of all age groups. The implementation follows a collaborative model where local authorities and community organizations identify and maintain suitable parks, while yoga institutions support awareness programs and regular sessions.

The initiative specifically encourages participation through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), allowing companies to contribute to wellness infrastructure development and receive appropriate recognition for their contributions to social well-being. CSR-supported Yoga Parks are envisioned as creating a lasting public health legacy by providing accessible spaces for daily yoga practice, health awareness activities, and community wellness programs.

The Yoga Park Portal serves as a digital framework providing guidelines, concept notes, registration mechanisms, and resources for stakeholders to join the initiative. It aims to create a coordinated national movement by bringing together government institutions, local bodies, community organizations, and corporate partners through a single platform.

The initiative aligns with the International Day of Yoga 2026 theme "Yoga for Healthy Ageing" and addresses growing concerns about lifestyle disorders, stress, and age-related health challenges. Unlike event-based yoga demonstrations, Yoga Parks are designed as permanent community assets that serve citizens throughout the year, representing a shift from temporary awareness to sustained wellness engagement.
