Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, has formally written to Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh proposing the establishment of Ayush OPDs and provision of Ayush-based treatment services across all Military and Field Hospitals. The proposal, dated July 22, 2026, focuses on enhancing preventive, promotive and holistic healthcare for defence personnel serving in diverse and challenging operational environments.
Shri Jadhav highlighted that while the Armed Forces Medical Services maintain robust modern medical infrastructure, most Military and Field Hospitals currently lack dedicated Ayush services, with such facilities available only in a limited number of Defence Ministry institutions. The integration aims to provide soldiers with greater access to evidence-based traditional healthcare, particularly in preventive healthcare, lifestyle management, rehabilitation, and overall well-being.
The Minister emphasized that Ayush services would complement the existing healthcare framework and contribute to a more comprehensive, patient-centric care model for Armed Forces personnel. The Ministry of Ayush has expressed full readiness to extend all necessary technical support, professional guidance, and institutional cooperation, including signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), to facilitate implementation. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to promoting integrative healthcare and making traditional medicine benefits available to wider society, including Armed Forces personnel.
