Britain is in talks to join the EU’s €90 billion ($105.13 billion) loan program for Ukraine, enabling UK defence firms to win contracts.
Discussions occurred between EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the European Political Community summit in Armenia.
Participation requires a Security and Defence Partnership (signed May 19 2025), UK support to Ukraine, and covering a share of the loan’s interest payments.
The Commission says it can move quickly once Britain confirms interest.
