Cabinet approves Rs 1,570 crore joint ship repair facility at Vadinar, Gujarat by Deendayal Port Authority and Cochin Shipyard.
Facility includes 650m jetty and two floating dry docks to repair vessels up to 300m length, addressing domestic capacity gap.
Project expected to generate 290 direct and 1,100 indirect jobs while reducing foreign exchange outflow for ship repairs.
Initiative supports Maritime India Vision 2030 and aims to improve competitiveness of Indian ports on western coast.
