The Ministry of Home Affairs announced the procurement of Khadi products by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) from the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), which has been registered with Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandar since March 2020. Four specific items have been identified for procurement: mustard oil (with ITBP as nodal force), cotton bed durries (ITBP as nodal), woolen blankets (CRPF as nodal), and bed sheets with pillow covers (ADG Medical, CAPFs as nodal). These Swadeshi products are sold through Master Bhandars and Subsidiary Bhandars for serving and retired personnel nationwide.
Additionally, the National Bee Board provides continuous support and training for scientific beekeeping within CAPF premises, where gardens with flowering plants are developed to create suitable environments for honey production, which is used to enhance soldiers' health and immunity. Under the Vibrant Village Programme-II, CAPFs procure edible items including fruits, vegetables, dairy products, dry rations, and meats from Self-Help Groups and State Cooperative Societies in border areas.
The Civic Action Programme for 2025-26 in Darjeeling district involved 46 programs at total expenditure of ₹9,52,000, benefiting 6,128 people and treating 3,759 animals. Activities included 12 medical civic actions (₹2,30,000), 15 veterinary civic actions (₹2,10,000), 4 community welfare programs (₹76,400), 6 human resource development programs (₹2,85,600), 1 construction/repair work (₹60,000), 1 drinking water project (₹80,000), and 7 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan programs (₹10,000). For 2026-27, SSB has been allotted ₹11,71,000 for Darjeeling district.
In Kalimpong district, 2025-26 activities included 4 programs at expenditure of ₹2,86,500, benefiting 783 people. This comprised 3 human resource development programs (tailoring training, kitchen garden training, and distribution of seeds and tools at ₹2,45,000) and 1 non-conventional energy development project (₹41,500). For 2026-27, SSB has been allotted ₹5,00,781 for Kalimpong district.
