The Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) Rajasthan Unit organized a series of awareness programmes and cleanliness campaigns across opium cultivation areas on October 2nd, 2026, observed as National Anti-Drug Addiction Day coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary. The initiatives were conducted under Operation Yuva Raksha and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to sensitize cultivators and local communities about the harmful effects of drug abuse and promote a drug-free India.
An awareness session was organized at the University of Kota attended by Registrar Shri Murlidhar Pratihar, NSS Head Ms. Shweta, faculty members, and students. Deputy Narcotics Commissioner Shri Naresh Bundel interacted with students, explaining how intelligent individuals can be influenced through manipulation, peer pressure, and social conditioning. The session used practical examples, presentations, and videos to explain concepts of Fast Mind and Slow Mind, and how initial exposure to addictive substances can lead to dependence. Students were encouraged to resist peer pressure and make informed choices, culminating in a Drug De-Addiction Pledge (Nasha Mukti Pledge).
Multiple programs were conducted across opium cultivation areas: DOO Kota organized a program for opium cultivators on harmful effects of opium, cannabis and other illicit drugs with banner displays and oath-taking; DOO Jhalawar conducted a program in Babrikhda village focusing on adverse effects of substance abuse; DOO Bhilwara organized a program at Sawaipur-Badala Bypass Highway with hundreds of local residents and cultivators; DOO Chittorgarh-I organized an Awareness and Cleanliness Campaign at Menar Village including a cleanliness drive; DOO Chittorgarh-III organized a program at Mangrol village highlighting physical, psychological and social consequences of drug abuse, included in Gram Sabha proceedings; DOO Pratapgarh-II organized an Awareness and Cleanliness Campaign at Village Gomana combining cleanliness with drug abuse prevention.
