The Ministry of Textiles, through Cotton Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI), is organizing a special showcase event on October 6, 2026, in Hyderabad as part of 'Reform Utsav 2026'. The event will highlight transformative reforms undertaken by CCI to make cotton procurement more farmer-centric, transparent, and technology-driven. Key stakeholders including government officials, Telangana government representatives, farmers, and industry associations will participate to share experiences and outcomes across the cotton value chain.
CCI has implemented technology-enabled reforms covering digital procurement, farmer registration, digital slot booking, direct Aadhaar-enabled payments, quality assessment, and traceability systems. The Kapas Kisan digital platform integrates various procurement stages including registration, slot booking, communications, and payments, enhancing transparency and reducing procedural complexities for farmers. The event will feature presentations on these reforms and screen a short film demonstrating their implementation impact.
Quality improvement initiatives include contamination control measures, digital traceability systems, and the Kasturi Cotton Bharat program aimed at enhancing Indian cotton's identity and market positioning in domestic and international markets. Productivity interventions include the High-Density Planting System (HDPS) promoted in collaboration with agricultural institutions to address productivity gaps and improve farm-level returns.
The Central Silk Board is driving parallel reforms in sericulture, having digitized Silk Mark services since 2022-23. The digital system now serves 7,000+ Authorized Users with 500+ new annual enrolments, processing applications within 1-2 working days while reducing paperwork and physical visits. The Mera Resham Mera Abhimaan technology transfer campaign reached 75,000 farmers through 1,400+ programs in its first phase (MRMA 1.0) across 129 districts in 26 States/UTs. MRMA 2.0 expanded to 218 sericulture districts covering over 95% of India's raw silk production, conducting 1,700+ programs that directly reached 73,000+ farmers and approximately 100,000 stakeholders through digital platforms.
Seri-Tourism initiatives are being developed at CSB-P4 Basic Seed Farm in Manasbal, Jammu & Kashmir, and CSB-Eri Basic Seed Farm in Topatoli, Assam, showcasing the complete silk production journey from farm to fibre. These hubs feature museums, live demonstrations, host-plant and moth parks, technology displays, and product outlets.
The reforms collectively aim to create a modern, technology-enabled textile value chain spanning from Farm to Fibre, Fibre to Factory, Factory to Fashion, and Fashion to Foreign markets. The event serves as a platform to translate policy interventions into field-level outcomes while encouraging collaboration among farmers, industry, government agencies, and knowledge institutions.
