Chief Election Commissioner of India Shri Gyanesh Kumar interacted with over 1000 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from various parts of Goa in a meeting held on September 2, 2026. In his inaugural address, CEC Kumar described BLOs as the foundational pillar of the world's largest democracy and emphasized that the preparation of Electoral Rolls and conduct of elections in India are executed strictly according to the Constitution of India, law, and instructions issued by the Election Commission of India.
CEC Kumar stated that BLOs serve as the first interface between the Election Commission of India and citizens, highlighting how Goa's BLOs have played and continue to play an instrumental role in the preparation of Electoral Rolls. He commended the BLOs for safeguarding the integrity of the Electoral Roll, noting that both Electoral Rolls and the entire election process are concurrently audited by Booth Level Agents (BLAs) appointed by recognized political parties and the Polling and Counting Agents of candidates.
The event featured the release of short videos explaining the roles of BLOs in Konkani and BLAs in English, along with a cultural programme celebrating Goa's rich traditions and heritage. BLOs participated in a Question-and-Answer session with the CEC, providing them an opportunity to clarify doubts directly through the interaction.
