The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh, granted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹52,000 crore on July 03, 2026. This administrative approval aims to enhance the combat readiness of India's Defence Forces through multiple strategic procurements.
For the Indian Army, approvals include the Anti-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Electronic Warfare System 'AKASH TARANG' to protect Army formations from UAV threats, Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile Systems to counter mechanized threats, Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile Weapon System for medium-range air defense, Very Short Range Air Defence System with multi-spectral sensing for enhanced counter-measure resilience, Active Protection System for tanks to improve defense mechanisms and survivability, and Jet-Based Kamikaze Drone System providing better Electronic Warfare capability with greater lethality and cost-effectiveness.
The Indian Navy received approval for Multi Influence Ground Mine to deny freedom of manoeuvre to adversaries, Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial System equipped with advanced sensors to enhance situational awareness, and establishment of a Land Based Testing Facility for Electric Propulsion System to meet testing requirements for motors and associated propulsion systems of naval assets.
For the Indian Air Force, approval was accorded for Fixed-Wing Based High Altitude Pseudo Satellite to carry out persistent Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance, telecommunication, and remote sensing capabilities, along with other unspecified proposals.
