Department of Biotechnology Cleanliness Campaign Achievements
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT) conducted Special Campaign 5.0 focusing on Swachhata (cleanliness) and expeditious disposal of pending matters from October 2-31, 2025, with continued achievements recorded during November 2025 through August 2026. The campaign was implemented across DBT's Divisions, Scientific Units, and Autonomous Institutions with regular review by the Secretary, DBT and Nodal Officer.
Key achievements during the nine-month period included cleanliness drives conducted at 291 sites across DBT and its field formations. The department disposed of 290 public grievances and 25 appeals during this period. Through systematic cleaning and record management initiatives, 29,350 square feet of office space was freed. Revenue generation of ₹38,77,235 was achieved through disposal of e-waste, scrap, and unserviceable items.
Specific cleanliness activities were documented across various autonomous institutions: National Institute of Plant Genome Research cleaned the back side of green house (January 2026), Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics cleaned outdoor sites and wastage rooms (February 2026), National Institute of Biomedical Genomics conducted balcony cleaning (March 2026), Institute For Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine cleaned AC chiller outdoor areas (April 2026), National Institute of Immunology cleaned area roads towards green houses (June 2026), Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development cleaned common passages (July 2026), and National Brain Research Centre cleaned store rooms (July 2026). The department maintained regular updates on the SCDPM Portal and ensured saturation of Swachhata in all offices under its administrative control.
