The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, along with its attached and subordinate offices, is implementing Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The campaign, coordinated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), aims to institutionalize Swachhata, reduce pendency, improve record management, and enhance citizen experience in government offices.
A key focus of the campaign is the effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste, building upon previous emphasis on scientific e-waste management. The initiative ensures responsible handling and disposal of e-waste in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022, while promoting cleanliness, efficient office space utilization, and improved workplace experience. Particular attention is being given to field and outstation offices that provide public services or have direct public interface.
During the campaign, DEA is undertaking focused action on identifying and disposing of pending references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, inter-ministerial references, Parliamentary Assurances, PMO references, Public Grievances, and grievance appeals. The campaign also strengthens record management through review, categorization, recording, and weeding out of physical records and closure of e-files following government guidelines.
Additional activities include cleanliness drives, space management, disposal of scrap and redundant materials, and identification and implementation of process simplification measures. DEA is coordinating with its offices and organizations for effective implementation and monitoring of identified targets. The campaign encourages adoption and documentation of best practices including e-waste management initiatives, digitization, efficient space management, environment-friendly practices, citizen-centric initiatives, and innovative practices.
Implementation is being monitored through the SCDPM portal with regular progress reviews. DEA remains committed to achieving tangible outcomes in Swachhata, e-waste management, pendency reduction, record management, office space efficiency, and citizen-centric service delivery.
