The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, is implementing Special Campaign 6.0 from October 2 to October 31, 2026, across its attached and subordinate offices and organizations under its administrative control. The campaign, coordinated by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), aims to institutionalize Swachhata (cleanliness), reduce pendency, improve record management, and enhance citizen experience in government offices.

A primary focus of the campaign is the effective collection, segregation, and disposal of e-waste, building upon previous initiatives and ensuring compliance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022. Particular attention is being given to field and outstation offices that provide public services or have direct public interface.

The DEA is undertaking focused action on identifying and disposing of pending references from multiple sources including Members of Parliament, State Governments, inter-ministerial references, Parliamentary Assurances, PMO references, Public Grievances, and grievance appeals. The campaign also strengthens record management through review, categorization, recording, and weeding out of physical records and closure of e-files according to government guidelines.

Additional activities include cleanliness drives, space management, disposal of scrap and redundant materials, and identification and implementation of process simplification measures. The department is coordinating with its offices and organizations for effective implementation and monitoring of identified targets, while encouraging adoption and documentation of best practices related to e-waste management, digitization, space efficiency, environment-friendly practices, and citizen-centric initiatives.

Implementation is being monitored through the SCDPM portal with regular progress reviews. The DEA aims to achieve tangible outcomes in Swachhata, e-waste management, pendency reduction, record management, efficient space utilization, and citizen-centric service delivery.
