The Department of Justice, Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India organized a Regional Workshop under the DISHA 2.0 Scheme on September 21, 2026, at the India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) in Goa. The workshop brought together stakeholders focused on access to justice, legal awareness, legal aid, and technology-enabled legal services, with the objective of strengthening citizen-centric justice delivery and enhancing awareness of legal rights and remedies.
The event was attended by key dignitaries including Goa Governor Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju as Chief Guest, Union Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, and IIULER Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) R. Venkata Rao. Officials from central and state governments, Common Service Centre representatives, and legal institutions participated in discussions about accessible and inclusive justice delivery.
The workshop highlighted several initiatives under DISHA 2.0 Scheme including Tele-Law services, Nyaya Bandhu (Pro Bono Legal Services), Legal Literacy and Legal Awareness Programme, and VIDHI-Sanjeevani. Joint Secretary Suresh Kumar emphasized the department's commitment to strengthening access to justice through these programs, particularly noting the "Nyaya Prabodh" initiatives which include "Know Your Rights in 90 Seconds" campaign and a newly launched Slogan Competition.
A major feature was the showcase of the top five reels from the "Know Your Rights in 90 Seconds" campaign and the launch of a Slogan Competition that will accept entries until December 31, 2026, through the Department of Justice's website. The event included a documentary screening about DISHA Scheme implementation in Goa and live interactions with beneficiaries, Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), and Panel Lawyers who shared their experiences delivering legal advice and assistance.
Minister Meghwal emphasized that access to justice extends beyond courts to include citizen empowerment through knowledge of rights, while Governor Raju stressed that access to justice is central to constitutional values of dignity and equal opportunity. The workshop concluded with the presentation of mementos and reaffirmed the department's continued efforts to strengthen legal literacy and facilitate access to legal services across India.
