The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, will undertake Special Campaign 6 focused on institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness), minimizing pendency in government offices, and implementing scientific disposal of e-waste across its nationwide postal network. The campaign consists of two phases: a Preparatory Phase from September 15 to 30, 2026, followed by an Implementation Phase from October 2 to 31, 2026.
During the Preparatory Phase, the department will identify pending matters, weed out obsolete records and files, assess redundant and scrap materials, inventory e-waste, identify offices requiring focused intervention, and set specific measurable targets. A key focus of Special Campaign 6 is Scientific E-Waste Management with the objective of "Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal." Postal Circles will undertake early assessment of obsolete electronic and IT equipment and ensure their segregation and disposal through the prescribed Producer/Recycler/Refurbisher mechanism in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 and subsequent amendments. Disposal will be conducted through authorized channels with maintained records of collection and disposal.
Post offices and other postal establishments will implement measures to identify repairable and non-repairable items, establish designated collection points, and create employee awareness regarding safe e-waste disposal practices. The campaign builds upon achievements from Special Campaign 5.0, during which the Department of Posts conducted 6000 Dak Chaupals, cleaned up 1,30,000 campaign sites, planted over 5,600 trees, and disposed of 1 lakh public grievances and 1,000 CPGRAMS appeals.
