The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, will undertake Special Campaign 6 focused on institutionalizing Swachhata (cleanliness) and minimizing pendency across its nationwide postal network. The campaign consists of two phases: a Preparatory Phase from September 15 to 30, 2026, followed by an Implementation Phase from October 2 to 31, 2026.

During the Preparatory Phase, the department will identify pending matters, weed out obsolete records and files, assess redundant and scrap materials, inventory e-waste, identify offices requiring focused intervention, and set specific measurable targets. A key focus area is Scientific E-Waste Management with the objective of 'Effective Collection, Segregation and Disposal.' Postal Circles will assess obsolete electronic and IT equipment and ensure their segregation and disposal through prescribed Producer/Recycler/Refurbisher mechanisms in accordance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2022 and subsequent amendments.

Post offices will establish designated collection points, identify repairable and non-repairable items, and create employee awareness about safe e-waste disposal. All disposal will occur through authorized channels with maintained records of collection and disposal. The campaign builds upon achievements from Special Campaign 5.0, which included conducting 6,000 Dak Chaupals, cleaning up 130,000 campaign sites, planting over 5,600 trees, disposing of 100,000 public grievances, and resolving 1,000 CPGRAMS appeals.

The Department of Posts aims to institutionalize Swachhata, minimize pendency, strengthen record management, and promote scientific e-waste management across its nationwide network toward creating a cleaner and more sustainable postal system.
