The Department of Financial Services (DFS) has been conferred with the PM Surya Ghar Excellence Award (2nd Position) in the category 'Maximum Buildings Solarized by Central Ministries/Departments' for achieving complete solarization across all feasible administrative buildings under its control. The award was presented by the Vice-President of India on November 5, 2026, during the valedictory session of the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

DFS successfully achieved 100% saturation across all technically and structurally feasible buildings, having assessed 4,144 buildings for viability based on roof-access rights, building ownership, shadow profiles, and load-bearing parameters. Out of these, 2,576 buildings were identified as viable for solarization. The department has fully commissioned rooftop solar PV plants across all these feasible buildings, delivering an aggregate installed clean capacity of 61.50 MW.

The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo 2026 was organized by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) alongside the 9th General Assembly of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) and the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH). This achievement underscores DFS's contribution towards India's broader net-zero commitments and demonstrates the proactive role of financial institutions in driving sustainable development through infrastructure development.
