The Ministry of Electronics & IT announced the integration of Rajasthan's Jan Aadhaar (Family ID) with DigiLocker, India's flagship digital document wallet under the Digital India programme. This integration provides approximately 7.5 crore residents of Rajasthan with instant digital access to their family identity credential, enabling them to fetch and share the document whenever needed for service delivery and verification.
The integration operates bidirectionally: citizens can pull their existing Jan Aadhaar Family ID into DigiLocker, and since DigiLocker is connected to Jan Aadhaar as a requestor, they can also enroll for a new Family ID digitally and provide consent directly within the app. The process involves four simple steps: signing into DigiLocker via app or website, searching for "Jan Aadhaar" under Rajasthan State Government services, entering required details and giving consent, and instantly fetching the document which is saved to the DigiLocker account.
Jan Aadhaar serves as Rajasthan's key household identity credential, widely used to access government benefits and welfare schemes. The digital availability on DigiLocker supports seamless access to services including healthcare benefits under the Chiranjeevi Scheme, public distribution system (PDS) benefits, student scholarships, and other welfare initiatives linked to the Jan Aadhaar ecosystem. The initiative promotes paperless governance, improves citizen convenience, and reflects the shared commitment of the Government of Rajasthan and DigiLocker to strengthen digital public infrastructure and ensure transparent, efficient governance.
