The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions reported that Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State, interacted with a delegation from the Central Secretariat Group-C Employees' Association representing over 8,000 Group-C employees across 135 Ministries, Departments and Organisations. During the interaction, Dr. Singh revealed that the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) has cleared over 23,000 promotions during the last 12 years as part of sustained efforts to address promotion-related issues and stagnation in Central Secretariat services.
The Minister emphasized that timely career progression is crucial for maintaining employee motivation and ensuring effective administrative functioning. He assured that the government is keen to provide a work-friendly environment and that genuine service issues would be considered through appropriate institutional mechanisms. Employee representatives presented detailed concerns regarding service conditions, career progression, cadre review, and existing cadre structure affecting promotional avenues.
Dr. Singh acknowledged that inputs from employees on service and cadre-related matters are important and should continue to be brought before concerned authorities. He referenced previous large-scale promotion exercises, including over 8,000 promotions affected on June 30, 2022 alone, and more than 16,200 promotion orders issued between 2022 and 2024 across various grades. The interaction concluded with assurances that genuine issues would be examined through proper channels while encouraging continued constructive engagement between employee representatives and authorities.
