Union Minister of State Dr. Jitendra Singh visited the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) office at Sardar Patel Bhawan, New Delhi on October 5, 2026 to review the progress of Special Campaign 6. The campaign, now in its fifth year, has evolved from a cleanliness initiative into a sustained annual effort running from Gandhi Jayanti to Sardar Patel Jayanti, focusing on institutionalizing Swachhata, reducing pendency, and promoting efficient resource use across government offices.

Dr. Singh directed officials to accelerate the transition from physical records to e-files, emphasizing efficiency, transparency, and ease of access through digitization of records and improved record management practices. A key achievement demonstrated at DARPG was the reclamation of unused space filled with junk, which has been transformed into a spacious common room for employee convenience and welfare.

The campaign places significant emphasis on scientific disposal and recycling of scrap, particularly electronic waste, with large quantities being identified and channelized for recycling. This approach generates revenue from recyclable materials while ensuring environmentally responsible disposal, contributing to the government's 'Waste to Wealth' vision and promoting principles of recycling and circular economy.

Special Campaign 6 is monitored through a single digital platform and includes thrust areas such as scientific e-waste disposal, timely resolution of pending matters including MPs' References, Parliamentary Assurances, PMO and IMC References, and State Government References. The campaign also focuses on improved record management, file disposal, office cleanliness drives, and space optimization for enhanced efficiency and sustainability. Dr. Singh emphasized that cleanliness and efficiency must become sustained practices in everyday governance and public service, representing a collective responsibility of citizens and institutions.
