Union Education Minister Shri Pralhad Joshi led a Shramdaan and Cleanliness Drive at Gargi College, University of Delhi, on October 1, 2026, as part of the nationwide 'Ek Din, Ek Ghanta, Ek Saath' initiative. During the event, the Minister planted a sapling under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign and emphasized the critical link between cleanliness and public health, stressing the importance of collective participation in making Swachhata a sustained habit.
Joshi specifically urged students to contribute at least 30 minutes daily to cleanliness-oriented activities, maintaining Swachhata not only in educational institutions but also in their homes and public spaces. He highlighted that individual efforts could inspire collective action and transform Swachhata into a people's movement. The Minister also emphasized the role of students in promoting environmental consciousness and responsible citizenship, encouraging participation in sports and outdoor activities while maintaining a healthy balance with screen-based activities.
Addressing the broader vision, Joshi called on students to contribute to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's vision of building a Viksit Bharat by 2047, describing them as key pillars in translating this vision into action and building a clean, green, and healthy India through responsible citizenship and active participation. The event was attended by University of Delhi Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh, faculty members of Gargi College, and senior officials of the Ministry of Education.
