The Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), under the Union Ministry of Education, is implementing Special Campaign 6 from October 2 to October 31, 2026. The campaign focuses on three main areas: improving administrative efficiency through minimizing pendency in official work, reviewing files across various categories, digitizing records, weeding out obsolete files, and strengthening record management practices to optimize office space usage.
A significant component involves promoting cleanliness across school campuses nationwide through cleanliness drives led by Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE, aiming to create healthier learning environments and foster collective responsibility among students and staff. The campaign particularly emphasizes strengthening e-waste awareness and collection in schools, with sensitization programs for students and teachers about the environmental impact of electronic waste and encouraging proper disposal through authorized channels.
As part of the initiative, DoSEL installed a creative e-waste mural made from 50 kg of e-waste collected by school students and e-waste bins at Kartavya Bhavan 2 on October 14, 2026, to mark International e-Waste Day. The mural promotes the "Reduce, Reuse and Recycle" message aligned with the National Education Policy 2020 vision.
Secretary Shri T. K. Anil Kumar chaired a video conference with States/UTs and autonomous bodies on October 16, 2026, to review preparations for the nationwide e-waste awareness and collection drive scheduled for October 28, 2026. The conference emphasized developing plans for handing over collected e-waste to authorized vendors and implementing an IEC (Information, Education, Communication) campaign. The overall campaign reinforces collective action in building clean, environmentally responsible educational institutions through the Eco Clubs for Mission LiFE framework.
