European diesel margins dip but stay near record highs
The Reuters article published on 18‑09‑2026 at 11:14 pm reports that European low‑sulphur gasoil (diesel) futures traded at $85.34 per barrel, a decline of 30 cents from the previous session’s close, while still trading above Brent crude futures at 1637 GMT.
Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz fell to four commodity vessels on Thursday, down from six vessels the day before and well below the ten‑day average of roughly 16 vessels, according to preliminary shipping data released on Friday.
At the Amsterdam‑Rotterdam‑Antwerp (ARA) refining and storage hub, gasoil and diesel inventories remained essentially unchanged at 1.65 million tonnes, with no imports recorded for the period. Eight cargoes are scheduled to arrive for unloading by the end of the month.
The article notes that these margin levels persist despite ongoing supply disruptions in the Middle East, which continue to influence European diesel pricing dynamics.
