The Department of Fertilizers, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, commenced Swachhata Pakhwada-2026 on September 1, 2026, which will continue until September 15, 2026. The initiative began with a message from Union Minister Shri J. P. Nadda, who described it as an important nationwide initiative towards building a clean, green, and sustainable India. The Minister emphasized that Swachhata Pakhwada reflects the vision of a clean, green, and sustainable India and strengthens the collective commitment to maintaining clean and healthy workplaces and surrounding environments in line with the objectives of Swachh Bharat.

Following the Minister's message, officials and employees of the Department of Fertilizers took the Swachhata Pledge under the leadership of Secretary Shri Rajat Kumar Mishra. The Secretary called upon all officers and employees to extend active cooperation toward the cleanliness initiative, stating that cleanliness is not merely a campaign but a moral responsibility. He urged everyone to maintain cleanliness at their workplace and in the surrounding environment and to make cleanliness an integral part of their daily work culture.

During the Swachhata Pakhwada period, various activities are being organized to promote cleanliness, environmental protection, digital cleanliness, and a clean work culture. The department's Twitter handle (@BharatUrvarak) shared the message: 'स्वच्छ, हरित, पेपरलेस और डिजिटल रूप से सशक्त कार्य-परिवेश का निर्माण हमारा संकल्प है' (We are committed to building a clean, green, paperless, and digitally empowered work environment).
