The Department of Fertilizers, under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, will observe 'Swachhata Pakhwada-2026' from September 1 to September 15, 2026. This nationwide campaign aims to foster cleanliness at both physical and digital workplaces, promote environmental conservation, and bring qualitative improvements to work culture. The initiative places special emphasis on 'Digital Cleanliness and Record Management' to enhance administrative efficiency, transparency, and strengthen the e-filing system.
The campaign includes a dedicated strategy for digital cleanliness that involves streamlining e-Office and digital filing systems, reviewing pending e-files, digitally closing/archiving disposed cases, systematizing databases, and encouraging personnel to purge redundant and obsolete files from official email inboxes to optimize server space.
Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Chemicals & Fertilizers, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, will inaugurate the Pakhwada with a cleanliness message and administer the Swachhata Pledge to all officers and staff. The campaign will also generate public awareness about eliminating single-use plastics and promoting cloth bags and reusable bottles.
The detailed schedule of activities includes: Physical Record Management on September 2 with inspection of record rooms and weeding out of old/obsolete files; Green Workplace Initiative on September 3 featuring distribution of awareness-themed cotton T-shirts and a plantation drive; Scrap Disposal on September 7 for systematic disposal of condemned equipment, obsolete furniture, and e-waste; Public Grievance Redressal on September 8 for expedited review of pending references from CPGRAMS, PMO, Members of Parliament, and State Governments; Digital Cleanliness Day on September 9 for department-wide digital sanitization of e-files, cloud drives, and mailboxes; Community Shramdaan on September 10 for collective clean-up drives across office premises; Hygiene & Infrastructure Audit on September 11 with signature campaigns and safety audits of facilities; and Creative Engagement on September 14 with essay writing and ideation contests for staff.
The Department urges all officers, staff members, and affiliated organizations to actively participate in embracing both physical and digital cleanliness as a sustainable daily practice.
