The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, through its Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying (DAHD), organized the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign on September 25, 2026, at the Animal Quarantine and Certification Services (AQCS) campus in New Delhi. The event was conducted under the Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 initiative and was led by Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel, Hon'ble Minister of State for DAHD.
Minister Baghel highlighted that the campaign, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, connects nature's nourishment with maternal affection, emphasizing that planting a tree in one's mother's name represents planting life for the future. He stressed that these plants should be cared for like children so they can eventually provide care like mothers. The event also included a cleanliness drive at the AQCS campus with the objective of incorporating cleanliness into daily lifestyles.
The theme for SHS 2026 is "Participation in Cleanliness; Clean India, Developed India," with the clear goal that achieving a developed India requires public participation in cleanliness initiatives. The campaign was part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
