Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on an official visit to Singapore from October 9 to 11, 2026, for high-level engagements with Singaporean leadership and global institutional investors. The visit focuses on strengthening the India-Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and advancing outcomes from the ISMR (India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable).

During the visit, Sitharaman will meet with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan. Discussions will cover key areas including trade and investment, digital financial connectivity, capital markets, taxation, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, skilling, and aviation cooperation.

Singapore represents India's largest source of Foreign Direct Investment, with cumulative FDI inflows of approximately USD 194.68 billion during the period April 2000 to March 2026. Singaporean institutional investors, particularly GIC and Temasek, maintain significant investments across various sectors of the Indian economy.

The Finance Minister will engage with leading Singaporean and international investors through a Roundtable with Hedge Fund and Portfolio Fund Managers and a series of Government-to-Business (G2B) meetings. These interactions aim to facilitate exchanges on India's growth trajectory, investment opportunities, and the evolving global economic landscape.

Sitharaman will hold one-to-one meetings with senior business leaders and heads of major global financial institutions, including CEOs of Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC), Temasek Holdings, DBS Bank Ltd., Standard Chartered Bank, British International Investment (BII), IHH Healthcare Berhad, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), B Capital, HPS Investment Partners, as well as the Chairperson of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB (SEB), Director of Mitsui & Co., Ltd., and Executive Chairman of TPG.

The Ministry of Finance will facilitate connections between Singaporean investors and Indian companies, financial institutions, and State Governments, providing necessary handholding to advance identified investment opportunities. Platforms such as the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and GIFT City are highlighted as potential avenues for greater participation by Singaporean capital through investment vehicles and funds.
