The Ministry of Home Affairs has established a new recruitment category for Ex-Agniveers seeking positions as Constable (General Duty) in Central Armed Police Forces and Rifleman in Assam Rifles. The policy provides three significant benefits: 50% reservation of vacancies specifically for Ex-Agniveers, age relaxation of 3 years beyond the prescribed upper age limit (extended to 5 years for candidates from the first batch of Ex-Agniveers), and complete exemption from Physical Standards Test (PST), Physical Efficiency Test (PET), and written examination requirements.
A dedicated Ex-Agniveer wing has been created under the Ministry of Home Affairs to coordinate the further progression of Ex-Agniveers into these security forces. The announcement, made by Minister of State Nityanand Rai in a written reply to the Lok Sabha on July 21, 2026, noted that the first batch of Agniveers had not yet completed their term of engagement at the time of this policy announcement.
