The Ministry of Home Affairs announced details for the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas 2026 and Bharat Parv 2026 celebrations to be held at Ekta Nagar, Gujarat on October 31, 2026. Union Home Secretary Shri Govind Mohan addressed a press conference in New Delhi outlining the event details.
The celebrations will commence with Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel at the Statue of Unity in the morning. The main Ekta Parade will be held in the evening, a departure from previous years due to high daytime temperatures. This year's parade has been revised to be more vibrant, diverse and attractive with a focus on celebrating the end of armed Naxalism in the country in 2026.
The event serves two primary purposes: highlighting the extraordinary work of Police forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Central Police Organizations (CPOs), and attracting visitors to experience Ekta Nagar and its surroundings. The parade contingents will include State Police forces and CAPFs that were at the forefront of the fight against armed Naxalism, with short films displayed on LED screens summarizing their achievements.
Three unique performances will mark the end of armed Naxalism: State Police and CAPF contingents with achievement highlights, a theatrical presentation by the National School of Drama featuring approximately 2,000 artists from 126 districts previously affected by Naxalism, and 5,000 invited spectators from these same districts who will share their experiences.
The cultural theme is Vande Mataram, commemorating its 150th year. A significant departure from tradition includes 15 tableaux designed entirely through public competitions on MyGov at national and Gujarat district levels, rather than by government ministries. Additionally, a cultural performance will feature approximately 5,000 artists from various state communities living in Gujarat, exemplifying the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat concept.
The National School of Drama will present a theatrical play based on Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyaya's Anandamath, incorporating its philosophy that every Indian has responsibility toward building the country's future while being aware of cultural heritage.
