The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions reported significant improvements in the timeliness of public grievance resolution through the Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS). The average redressal time in Central Ministries and Departments has decreased substantially from 32 days in 2021 to 13 days as of July 15, 2026, with the majority of grievances now being disposed of within the prescribed 21-day timeline.

The government has established robust grievance redressal mechanisms across all Central and State Ministries, Departments, and Organizations, with continuous monitoring through periodic reviews to ensure timely resolution. While most grievances are resolved within timelines, a small number may occasionally exceed the prescribed period due to complexity of issues, inter-departmental consultations, legal proceedings, or the need for detailed verification.

A Review Meeting Module was operationalized in February 2025 to facilitate periodic review of grievance redressal by senior officers, enabling closer monitoring of pendency. The prescribed timeline for grievance redressal has evolved over time: 60 days until June 22, 2021; 45 days from June 23, 2021 to July 27, 2022; 30 days from July 28, 2022 to August 23, 2024; and 21 days effective from August 24, 2024 onwards.

The information was provided by Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; Earth Sciences; and Minister of State for PMO; Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions; Atomic Energy, Space in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha on August 6, 2026. Ministry/Department-wise details of grievances pending beyond prescribed timelines during the last five years and current year were provided in Annexure-I tables.
