The Government of India will undertake Special Campaign 6.0 from 2 October to 31 October 2026, with primary emphasis on Swachhata (cleanliness) and reduction of pendency in government activities. The campaign also focuses on effective records management, efficient office space utilization, and scientific disposal of e-waste generated in government offices.
The campaign operates in three phases: Preparatory Phase (15-30 September 2026) where departments identify targets for disposal including pending references from Members of Parliament, State Governments, inter-ministerial references, Cabinet Notes, PMO references, Parliamentary Assurances pending over three months, Public Grievances and Appeals. This phase also includes file review, recording, weeding, e-file closure, and identification of scrap materials.
Implementation Phase (2-31 October 2026) involves offices undertaking cleanliness activities, scientific e-waste disposal, and time-bound action for pending references disposal. Evaluation Phase (16-30 November 2026) will assess outcomes across Ministries and Departments.
Special emphasis is placed on effective collection, segregation and scientific disposal of e-waste. During Special Campaign 5.0, the Department of Commerce reviewed 88,385 physical files and weeded out 46,255 files, freeing up 36,005 sq. ft. of office space. The department generated approximately ₹70 lakh through scrap disposal and cleaned 277 sites.
